Use cases

Alertedly for VC firms

Give every partner and analyst your portfolio and dealflow intelligence inside the assistant they already use, scoped to your firm, with per-person access and an audit log.

Roll out in 3 steps

  1. 1

An admin adds the connector once

In Claude Team/Enterprise an owner adds it under organization connectors; in ChatGPT Business/Enterprise a workspace admin adds and publishes it. URL: https://mcp.alertedly.com. Step-by-step.

  2. 2

Each partner and analyst signs in

Everyone clicks Connect and signs in with their own Alertedly account. Invite people to the firm from Team settings first, so their account is a member.

  3. 3

Alertedly scopes everyone to the firm

Firm members automatically see the firm's portfolio and dealflow. Nothing to configure per person, no keys to hand out.

Who sees what

Who is callingWhat they see
Member of one firm (sign-in or personal key)The firm's portfolio and dealflow
Member of several firmsThe earliest membership by default; pass org (name or slug) to pick another. Answers say which firm was used.
Organization API keyThat firm's portfolio and dealflow
User with no firmTheir own tracked companies, plus companies from their completed free report
AnyoneNever another account's or another firm's companies, reports or signals

People in several firms

Every tool takes an optional org argument with the firm's name or slug. In practice you just say it: “Using our Fund II org, what happened in the portfolio this week?” Without it, Alertedly uses your earliest membership and the answer says which firm it used and lists the others you can pick.

Roles

Any member can add companies to dealflow. Adding to portfolio needs a firm admin. Additions count against the firm's company limit.

Rate limits

LimitApplies toValue
Per personEach signed-in user, or each organization API key60 requests / minute
Per firmAll members and keys of one firm together600 requests / minute

A busy analyst can't use up the whole firm's capacity, and the firm-wide ceiling protects everyone else. Over a limit, clients get HTTP 429 with Retry-After and usually retry automatically.

Audit log

Every AI query is logged: who asked (person or key), which tool and when. Firm admins see the firm's log in Team settings. Logging never slows down or blocks an answer.

Data freshness

  • Alertedly researches every tracked company once a week.
  • Weeks are ISO weeks starting Monday (UTC). Any week argument accepts a date and uses that date's Monday.
  • A company added this week has no data until its first weekly run finishes.
  • get_coverage lists companies whose data is stale (older than 8 days) or missing, so partners know what a summary does and doesn't cover.

What can I ask?

Your assistant chooses the tools; the tags show what it usually calls. Click a tag to see that tool.

Weekly review

  • “What happened across our portfolio this week? Highest severity first.”

  • “Draft this week's partner update: top moves per portfolio company, with sources.”

  • “Give me a one-page brief on Vercel for Monday's partner meeting.”

Dealflow

  • “Which dealflow companies raised money or launched something in the last two weeks?”

  • “Add Acme Labs (acmelabs.example) to our dealflow.”

Hiring and team

  • “Who in the portfolio is hiring fastest right now? Who is slowing down?”

  • “Any leadership changes across the portfolio in the last month?”

Company deep dive

Data quality

  • “Which companies have stale or missing data this week?”

Ready-made prompts

Clients that support MCP prompts also offer weekly_portfolio_digest and partner_update, which ask the right tools in the right order and format the result for a partner meeting.

Automations

For scheduled jobs, such as a Monday digest posted to your team chat, use an organization key created by a firm admin in Team settings, with read-only scope and an expiry. Use the REST API /digest endpoint, or connect an agent to the MCP server:

terminal
curl -H "X-API-Key: $ALERTEDLY_ORG_KEY" \
  "https://api.alertedly.com/api/v1/digest"

One key per automation

Give each automation its own read-only key so you can revoke one without breaking the others, and so the audit log tells them apart.
