- Signals across your list
- Raises, launches, pricing changes, hiring sprees and slowdowns, leadership changes, filtered by week, type and severity.
- Rankings and changes
- Rank companies on any weekly metric and see what changed between two weeks.

- Known competitors plus new entrants starting to make noise in a category.
- Head-to-head comparisons
- Hiring, launches, social and ads activity side by side, week over week.
- Built for firms
- Per-person sign-in, firm-wide scope, roles, limits and an audit log.
Connect
Server URL (streamable HTTP):
https://mcp.alertedly.comhttps://mcp.alertedly.com/mcp also works, for existing setups.
- Method
- Sign in with Alertedly (OAuth)
- Use it for
- Everyone. Recommended.
- How
- Add the URL in your client, then sign in with your own Alertedly account. Each person signs in as themselves, with no key to copy or share. New users can create a free account during sign-in.
- Method
- API key
- Use it for
- Scripts, CI and automations
- How
- Send
X-API-Key: YOUR_KEYorAuthorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. Personal keys live in the dashboard; firm admins create organization keys in Team settings. Prefer read-only keys.
Quickstart
Pick your client. Each takes about a minute. More detail and checks are in the full quickstart.
- For
- Claude.ai and Claude Desktop, individual plans
- Auth
- Sign in (OAuth)
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Alertedly and enter the URL
https://mcp.alertedly.com. - Click Connect, sign in with your Alertedly account and approve.
- In a chat, enable Alertedly from the tools menu and ask: “What happened across my tracked companies this week?”
If you used the old mcp-remote bridge in your Claude Desktop config file, remove that entry; the connector replaces it.
- For
- Organization owners on Claude Team or Enterprise
- Auth
- Sign in (OAuth), per member
- An owner opens the organization's connector settings (Settings → Connectors, under organization connectors) and adds a custom connector named Alertedly with URL
https://mcp.alertedly.com. This is done once for the whole organization. - Each member then opens their own Settings → Connectors, finds Alertedly, clicks Connect and signs in with their own Alertedly account.
- Members of a firm on Alertedly automatically see the firm's portfolio and dealflow. Nothing is configured per person.
- For
- ChatGPT plans that allow custom connectors
- Auth
- Sign in (OAuth)
- Open Settings → Connectors (called Apps & Connectors in some versions).
- If your plan requires it, turn on Developer mode in the advanced connector settings.
- Create a connector with URL
https://mcp.alertedly.comand OAuth authentication. - Sign in with your Alertedly account and approve. Add Alertedly to a chat from the tools menu.
- For
- Workspace admins on ChatGPT Business or Enterprise
- Auth
- Sign in (OAuth), per member
- A workspace admin opens the workspace's connector settings and adds a custom connector with URL
https://mcp.alertedly.comand OAuth authentication. - The admin enables or publishes the connector for the workspace (or for specific groups, if your workspace uses them).
- Each member connects Alertedly and signs in with their own Alertedly account.
- For
- Claude Code CLI
- Auth
- Sign in, or API key for headless use
With sign-in (no key):
claude mcp add --transport http alertedly https://mcp.alertedly.comStart a session, run /mcp, choose Alertedly and sign in in the browser. /mcp then lists the Alertedly tools: 33 on a personal account, 83 for a firm.
With an API key (CI, scripts, remote machines without a browser):
claude mcp add --transport http alertedly https://mcp.alertedly.com \
--header "X-API-Key: YOUR_ALERTEDLY_API_KEY"- For
- Cursor editor
- Auth
- Sign in, or API key
Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (global) or .cursor/mcp.json (per project). With sign-in, give only the URL; Cursor asks you to sign in when it connects:
{
"mcpServers": {
"alertedly": {
"url": "https://mcp.alertedly.com"
}
}
}With an API key:
{
"mcpServers": {
"alertedly": {
"url": "https://mcp.alertedly.com",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "YOUR_ALERTEDLY_API_KEY" }
}
}
}Save, then open Cursor Settings → MCP. Alertedly should show 33 tools on a personal account, 83 for a firm.
- For
- Codex CLI and IDE extension
- Auth
- Sign in, or API key
With sign-in, on recent versions:
codex mcp add alertedly --url https://mcp.alertedly.com
codex mcp login alertedlyWith an API key, add to ~/.codex/config.toml (or .codex/config.toml in a trusted project) and export the key before launching Codex:
[mcp_servers.alertedly]
url = "https://mcp.alertedly.com"
bearer_token_env_var = "ALERTEDLY_API_KEY"export ALERTEDLY_API_KEY="YOUR_ALERTEDLY_API_KEY"Alternative using the explicit header instead of a bearer token:
[mcp_servers.alertedly]
url = "https://mcp.alertedly.com"
env_http_headers = { "X-API-Key" = "ALERTEDLY_API_KEY" }Run /mcp inside Codex to verify. If the server isn't detected on an older build, update Codex or enable the streamable-HTTP client (experimental_use_rmcp_client = true).
- For
- Copilot Studio makers and Microsoft 365 admins
- Auth
- Sign in where supported; read-only org key for shared automations
A maker or admin in your tenant adds Alertedly as a custom MCP connector:
- Transport: Streamable HTTP
- Endpoint:
https://mcp.alertedly.com - Authentication, recommended: OAuth, where your Copilot setup supports it, so each person signs in with their own Alertedly account.
- Authentication, shared automations: API key in header
X-API-Key. Use an organization key created by a firm admin in Team settings, with read-only scope.
- For
- VS Code with GitHub Copilot agent mode
- Auth
- Sign in, or API key
Add to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette. With sign-in, VS Code asks you to sign in when the server starts:
{
"servers": {
"alertedly": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.alertedly.com"
}
}
}With an API key, prompted once and stored by VS Code:
{
"inputs": [
{ "type": "promptString", "id": "alertedly-key", "description": "Alertedly API key", "password": true }
],
"servers": {
"alertedly": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.alertedly.com",
"headers": { "X-API-Key": "${input:alertedly-key}" }
}
}
}- For
- Meta Muse
- Auth
- Sign in (OAuth)
Add https://mcp.alertedly.com as a connector and sign in with your Alertedly account. Once Alertedly is listed in the Muse connector directory, you can also connect from its listing.
What can I ask?
Investors
“What happened across our portfolio this week? Highest severity first.”
“Draft this week's partner update: top moves per portfolio company, with sources.”
“Give me a one-page brief on Vercel for this week's partner meeting.”
“Which dealflow companies raised money or launched something in the last two weeks?”
All VC prompts and the firm rollout guide
Startups
“Give me a competitor brief on Linear: what changed this week and what should we watch?”
“Compare Notion and Coda head to head on hiring and shipped features.”
“Who are the new entrants in Vercel's category?”
“Which competitor is running the most Meta ads right now?”
Start with a free report
Ask your assistant: “Get me a free competitor report on Notion, notion.so.” It usually takes a few minutes, and only seconds if Alertedly already researched that company this week. The report is emailed to you, and you can ask “show my Alertedly report” to read and discuss it in chat. The free report tools work on any Alertedly account, including free accounts. One free report per account.
To get this every week for every competitor, start tracking.

- Tool

- Type
- read
- What it does

- Type
- write
- What it does
- Admins: revoke one of the firm's API keys at once.
- Type

- Admins: read the firm's own website and list the companies its portfolio page links to (name, website, logo, and whether the firm already tracks each). It only finds: import the ones the user confirms with import_companies. - Calls to Alertedly over MCP and the REST API in the last 1 to 90 days (default 30), newest first: who, which key, which tool or endpoint, status and response time. Admins see everyone's calls and a per-member summary; members see their own.

- Admins: limit share links to admins, quiet hours and time zone (get_firm_settings reads them).
- Tool
- show_dashboard
- Type
- read

Plans and access
- Starter ($199/month, 10 companies) includes the MCP server. Answers cover the Starter channels; careers, Meta ads, Google ads, LinkedIn ads, Reddit, reviews (G2 and Trustpilot) and trademarks are hidden.
- Pro ($399/month, 25 companies) and VC plans (from $999/month) include the MCP server, the REST API and all 16 channels, ads, reviews and trademarks included. See Pricing.
- Any account, including free accounts, can use the free report tools.
Rate limits
- Limit
- Per person
- Applies to
- Each signed-in user, or each organization API key
- Value
- 60 requests / minute
- Limit
- Per firm
- Applies to
- All members and keys of one firm together
- Value
- 600 requests / minute
Every authenticated request counts, including initialize and tools/list. Over the limit, the server returns HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header. If limits can't be checked for a moment, read tools keep working and write tools are refused until they can.
Security
You only ever see your own account's or your firm's companies. 53 of the 83 tools only read; the 30 that change things need write access, and changes with portfolio-level or outside effects (such as removing a company) ask you to confirm first. Keys are stored as hashes, carry read or write scope, can expire and can be revoked at any time. Every call is logged, and firm admins can review their firm's log. Web content in answers is labeled as data, not instructions.
Security and data handling, in full
Troubleshooting
- Error
401- Usual cause
- Sign-in expired or revoked, or the API key was revoked or expired
- Error
403- Usual cause
- Read-only key used for a write tool, not a firm admin, or not a member of that org
- Error
429- Usual cause
- Rate limit hit; wait for
Retry-After
- Error
- No data yet
- Usual cause
- Company added this week; its first weekly run hasn't finished
