Alertedly MCP Troubleshooting

401 Unauthorized

Signed in: your session expired or access was revoked. Disconnect Alertedly in your client, connect again and sign in.
API key: the key was revoked, has expired or is mistyped. Create a new key and update your client. Check there is no extra space or quote around it.

403 Forbidden

Read-only key: a key without write scope called track_company, request_free_report or a write endpoint. The API returns INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE. Use a key with write scope, or sign in.
Not a firm admin: adding to portfolio needs a firm admin. Add to dealflow instead, or ask an admin.
Not a member of that org: the org you passed isn't one of your firms. Ask your assistant to list your companies; the answer names the firms you can use.

You hit the per-person limit (60/minute) or the firm-wide limit (600/minute). Wait the number of seconds in the Retry-After header, then retry. Most AI clients retry on their own. For scripts, retry after the delay (curl honors Retry-After):

"No data yet"

The company was added this week and its first weekly run hasn't finished. Ask again after the run. get_coverage lists companies that are pending, stale (older than 8 days) or missing.

Wrong firm or companies

If you belong to several firms, Alertedly uses your earliest membership unless you name one: “Using our Fund II org, ...”.
If you see only your personal companies, your account may not be a member of the firm yet. Ask a firm admin to invite you in Team settings, then sign in again.
If you connected with an organization key shared by someone else, you see that firm. Prefer signing in as yourself.

Missing channels

Careers, Meta ads, Reddit and trademarks are Pro and VC channels. On other plans they are hidden. See Pricing.

Tools don't appear

Check the URL is exactly https://mcp.alertedly.com (or https://mcp.alertedly.com/mcp).
In Claude Code and Codex run /mcp; in Cursor open Settings → MCP; in VS Code run MCP: List Servers. You should see 16 tools.
In Claude and ChatGPT, make sure Alertedly is enabled for the chat in the tools menu.
On a Team, Enterprise or Business plan, an admin may need to add or publish the connector first.
